Career and Internship Fair offers opportunities for
job-seekers
Saint Martin’s University to co-present event with The
Evergreen State College
March 21, 2008
Lacey, Washington — Saint Martin’s campus will be a gathering spot
for students and job-seekers alike on Tuesday, April 1, when Saint
Martin’s University and The Evergreen State College present the 2008
Career and Internship Fair. The fair will take place from 11 a.m. to
3 p.m. at Saint Martin’s Pavilion, 5300 Pacific Ave. S.E., Lacey.
Admission is free and open to the public.
This year’s Career and Internship Fair is the largest in the event’s
history, featuring 160 employers from private industry, state and local
government, and non-profit organizations. Some employers will be
conducting on-site interviews for full-time, part-time and summer
positions. For those seeking higher-education opportunities, several
colleges and universities will be representing their graduate programs.
“The Career and Internship Fair is always a major event for the
community,” says Ann Adams, director of Saint Martin’s Career Center,
“But this year, with a record number of employers participating, we’re
expecting an impressive turnout.”
The event is not just for individuals seeking immediate employment,
according to Adams. “Most attendees are there to explore current job
opportunities, but many go just to learn how they can polish their
professional image and market themselves more effectively,” she
explains. “At the fair, people can gather information directly from
organizations, represent themselves to potential employers, practice
job-interviewing skills and update resumes.”
Adams recommends that attendees come dressed in appropriate business
attire and bring copies of their resumes. Those present will be eligible
for prize drawings from a “Wheel of Fortune” donated by Party
Outfitters.
