Saint Martin's University welcomes new students
Over
200 freshmen students plus their families descended on Saint Martin’s
University on Friday morning, August 25 to begin Welcome Back Weekend
for the 2006-07 Academic Year. Students who are living on campus moved
in their belongings by the truck, SUV and car load. More than 50 SMU
students, faculty, staff and administrators assisted the new freshmen
and their parents in clearing out the vehicles and filling up the rooms
in Baran and Spangler Halls. The “Saint Martin’s Moving Company” hauled
boxes, suitcases, shoes, food and miscellaneous other items up two or
three flights of stairs while students and parents checked in, received
room keys and schedules for the rest of the weekend activities.
Additional weekend activities included workshops, placement exams,
seminar classes and lots of fun activities to help the new students get
to know each other and the University. Classes start on Monday, August
28.
